I don't like the idea of calling this my "biography"... sounds as if I was dead already, or something... anyway:
Well, my full name is Joanna Dorota Kleczkowska. Joanna is actually pronounced Yoan-na. Joanna then shortens into Joasia [Yoasha] which then shortens into Asia (something like: ah-sh-ah) . I don't blame you if you don't understand all this, I don't really either. :):):(!! I was born in Julich, Germany, on the wonderful date of 14th Dec. 1990 at about 4:40am. shortly after the Berlin wall collapsed. Did it affect me? Apart from the fact that German grammar just WON'T stick in my head, no, it didn't affect me! At the age of 8 months, I was taken (screaming, teething three teeth) to Poland, where I lived until I was one year and 6 and a half mths. Then, my mother and I went to join my father in England. My father had come here a slight bit earlier. We came here just for one year. Well, we've been here 14 1/2 years!! God works in mysterious ways... England's home, for us children. We've moved many times in the Cambridge area.
I have 4 siblings, 2 brothers: Janek (12 1/2), Tomek (almost 10) and 2 sisters: Gosia (7 1/2) and Hania (5 1/2), plus a baby brother in Heaven. My parents' names are Adam and Marta. We all have Polish citizenship...
I took Christ as my Saviour when I was 9 yrs old, but never really lived up to it, until in 2005/06 when I almost got sick from fear, and other stuff, and finally asked for help, and God sent people to help me turn back to Him. I don't really know what I was expecting, actually... some kind of explosion from Heaven, bang!... but God chose to send some of His servants, and helped me see that I actually need Him!
As soon as we came to England, we (my parents, not I, I was 1 ½ yrs old) started looking for a church. They found one, in a newspaper, called Ely Christian Fellowship, and decided we’d go there the following Sunday, having no clue how far Ely was from the centre of Cambridge! They liked it, and we’ve been going there ever since. We’ve been through many stages of the church, many different buildings, people, and such. We have great Pastors, and a very good worship team, which is now lead by the Pastors’ daughter-in-law. I love the worship! Its fun to praise so joyfully!! On the 31st March ('07!) the church will be celebrating 25 yrs, and also ordaining the pastors' son and daughter-in-law as full-time pastors... I'm sort of looking forward to the whole celebration, etc... I wonder what changes will come...
Since we're home-schooled, we use different textbooks. Someone from church gave us this Bible/reading book, whatever, published by Rod and Staff Publishers inc. There were pictures, etc... of Mennonites. My parents started wondering who these people are! In 2000, our family met some Mennonites for the first time. 6 young people came over to visit some of our friends here, and they all came over for lunch. Little did we think, then, how well we'd get to know Mennonites... the parents and sister of one of the girls came over later that year (we've visited back and forth a lot since then!), the following year we another girl's brother and his family, who had just come to Poland, as Mennonite missionaries. We now know Mennonites all over the world, and have even travelled with some in Poland, in Sept. '06.
I love singing, I play the violin, piano and recorder. I love going to church, emailing, spending time with my friends, having violin lessons, taking photos, and just being ME... (most of the time, that is.)
I will try and add some more to this detailed account of myself...
